ALTON Assembly Rooms was packed for the annual town mayor’s quiz, which raised more than £600 for the HomeStart Wey-Water charity.
Hosted by Matthew Bayliss, last Friday’s event attracted 18 teams made up of councillors, groups, individuals and businesses who competed over eight rounds of questions compiled by quizmaster Bill Tigg and compered by fellow Alton Lion Peter Bacon.
Quizzers enjoyed a fish and chip supper supplied by Kingfisher Fish and Chips while Catherine Jackson, from Alton Community Centre, provided the bar.
The winning team with an astonishing 91 points out of 100 was Austen-tatious, led by team captain and deputy town mayor Dean Phillips.
There was also a raffle.
Mr Bayliss said: “I am really pleased to see so many people here tonight and wish to thank everyone who has helped to make the night a real success.”
