By Farnham Herald in Football

ALRESFORD made fifth position their own in the Sydenhams League Premier Division, but were made to fight all the way by lowly Cowes Sports are Arlebury Park on Saturday.

John Cole converted a Craig Harding cross for the first of his two goals for the Magpies, but Cowes were level by half-time, Jordon Browne scoring from the spot after a handball decision.

John McKie’s spectacular volley put Cowes ahead in the second half.

Harding equalised with a powerful header and then Sam Doswell glanced in a Chris Mason free-kick to put the Magpies in front.

The visitors gamely drew level with an Oli McArthur goal, but Cole won the game with a stunning half-volley.

Alresford entertain Andover in their final game of the season this Saturday.
