A dispersal order will be in force in Fleet this weekend as police continue efforts to curb anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

The order runs from 12pm on Saturday, October 18, until 7am on Sunday, October 19, and covers Fleet Road from Kings Road to the Oatsheaf crossroads, extending east to Albert Street.

It gives officers the power to order individuals to leave the area and not return within a set time. Those who ignore the order face arrest.

Fleet Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by response and investigation officers, has been tackling reports of disorder and criminality in the town.

The order, issued under Section 34 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, is one of several tactics being used to address the problem.

Dispersal orders are typically used to prevent groups from gathering in areas where anti-social behaviour, disorder or intimidation has been reported, helping police to keep communities safe.

Inspector Lisa Eastlake said: “We are continuing to take all reports of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously, which is why we have implemented a dispersal order for this weekend.

“We want people to enjoy Fleet town centre, but any anti-social behaviour and violence will not be tolerated and offenders will be dealt with robustly.

“We know that anti-social behaviour and any associated criminality can make life miserable for local residents and businesses, but please be reassured that we are determined to put a stop to it and target the individuals involved.”

Officers will patrol the area throughout the weekend and encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak to them or call 101.
