A PEDESTRIAN has died in hospital five days after he was hit by a van at the Ridgway crossroads in Farnham.

The victim, who was in his 40s but has not been named by police, suffered serious head injuries when he was hit by a silver Volkswagen Transporter van in Ridgway Road, at around 10.15pm on Friday, May 14.

He was rushed to hospital – but police confirmed on Tuesday that he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, May 19.

The driver of the van, a man in his 20s was unhurt, but was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit to do so through drink or drugs, driving whilst over the specified limit for drugs and dangerous driving. He has been interviewed and released under investigation.

His passenger was uninjured.

A police spokesman said: "We are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the collision or has any other information or dashcam footage to come forward as soon as possible.
