A THIRD man has been arrested in connection with an incident in Alton where a 24 year old man sustained serious injuries.

The incident happened just after midnight on July 26, on the High Street, Alton, close to the Vodafone store.

Following an "altercation", police say a 24-year-old man was taken to Southampton General Hospital with head injuries. He remains in a critical condition.

A 26 year old man from Alton was arrested last night (July 27) on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He currently remains in custody.

Two other men, a 25-year-old man and a 20 year old man, both from Alton, were earlier arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

They have both been released on conditional bail while investigations continue.
