Three people have been charged after a racially aggravated incident at an Aldershot community centre in which two police officers were assaulted.

Police were called shortly after 7.30pm on Thursday, July 23, following reports of an incident at the Shiva Cultural and Community Centre, a Hindu temple and community centre on Queens Road.

It was reported that people at the centre were subjected to racially abusive behaviour before three men and a woman were assaulted.

Two cars and a mobile phone were also damaged during the incident. When officers attended the scene, two police officers were assaulted.

Three people were arrested, charged and have since appeared in court.

Ezra Daley, 29, of Perowne Street, Aldershot, was charged with two counts of racially/religiously aggravated intentional harassment, three counts of criminal damage, affray, assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty and exposure.

Kirstie Clarkson, 35, of Upper Union Street, Aldershot, was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, affray, assault by beating of an emergency worker and assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Lowan Daley, 23, of Perowne Street, Aldershot, was charged with affray.

They appeared before Southampton Magistrates' Court on Saturday, July 25, and were granted bail with conditions. They are due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on Wednesday, August 26.
