ALTON Local Food Initiative (ALFI) held its sixth harvest feast at the Methodist Church Hall.
Morning visitors on October 13 enjoyed coffee and homemade cakes, including rhubarb and ginger and apple and parsnip, while people drifting in during the afternoon sampled a range of homemade vegetable soups.
The soups included spicy butternut squash, courgette and parmesan, and Mile High Green Chili. The latter featured some lesser-known vegetables trialled this yea by ALFI - achochas and tomatillos. These were also on show in the colourful produce display, alongside impressive pumpkins and other vegetables grown by ALFI and its members.
Work has ended for the year on ALFI’S town plots and planters, but ALFI will be welcoming everyone back to the Methodist Hall in February for the annual seed swap.
