ALARM bells have been ringing among users of Alice Holt Forest, following the publication last week of a Defra consultation on the future of Forestry Comm-ission-managed forests.
For in classifying Alice Holt as a "mixed forest" and not a "heritage forest", the document points to a future sale of the historic woodland park. South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt has been inundated with correspondence from constituents concerned about the implications for local forests.
