ALTON College students have again come up trumps, achieving excellent results with an overall pass rate of 98.2 per cent in A-Level and vocational courses, including a perfect pass rate across 23 A-Level subjects and 14 vocational subjects.
Some 52 per cent of students achieved high grades of A*-B, with 31 per cent achieving A*-A or equivalent.
An outstanding 97.1 per cent of students who took the extended project qualification (EPQ) achieved A*-C, with 53 per cent achieving A*-A grades and a 100 per cent overall pass rate. More than 74 per cent of vocational students achieved the highest grades of Distinction*-Distinction with a 100 per cent overall pass rate.
Results in traditional A-Level subjects such as English, maths, languages and humanities were particularly notable, as were the STEM subjects - science, technology, engineering and maths - with 96.4 per cent of students gaining A*-B in double maths (maths and further maths combined) and 70 per cent A*-C grades in biology, while there was a 100 per cent pass rate for the BTEC extended diploma in engineering.

“These results are tribute to the hard work and commitment of both students and staff who have shown yet again that Alton College provides outstanding preparation for progressing on to university, employment or an apprenticeship.
“This is a really exciting time for the college as we look forward to working with Havant and South Downs College and sharing practice and pedagogy with a college with equally strong results.”

“The most recent change to the college day introduced a fresh, innovative approach to timetabling grounded in academic research with a 10am start to provide the best learning environment for young people, up to 50 hours more teaching, and greater scope for enrichment activities and work experience.”
Andrew Morrish (previously at Amery Hill School, Alton) gained a place at University College London to study medicine having achieved A* in A-Level biology, chemistry and maths and an A* in EPQ.
He said: “At the end of secondary school moving to college is quite daunting and you’re not prepared at all, but my two years here has prepared me for the next step and I feel ready.
Elliott Clark (Farnham Heath End School) achieved three Distinction* in BTEC extended diploma in creative media production and is going on to study filmmaking at the University of Sussex.
Alex Judkins (Amery Hill School) achieved A* in history, Spanish and EPQ and an A in French A-Level and is going on to study modern languages at the University of Sheffield.
Phoebe Reynolds (Weydon School, Farnham), who achieved three Distinctions* in BTEC extended diploma in art and design will go on to study illustration animation at UWE Bristol.
Charlie Collings (Perins School, Alresford) achieved two Distinction* and a Distinction in BTEC extended diploma in engineering and is currently applying for apprenticeships.
Ella Buranakul (Amery Hill School, Alton) achieved A* in biology, A in chemistry, A* in maths and A* in EPQ and has a deferred place to study natural sciences at the University of Leeds.
Trinity Howard (Perins School) gained three Distinction* in the BTEC extended diploma in art and design and is going on to study graphic design at the Winchester School of Art, part of the University of Southampton.
