PUPILS at Alton School enjoyed a dressing-up day to start Book Week in the lower school.

The children dressed as a hero or villain from a book of their choice. There was a wide variety of creative costumes, from The Snow Queen and Maleficent to James Bond and Superwoman.

Over half-term the children used their imagination to create a story scene in a box. These were judged by middle school director Scott Sanderson in assembly, and there were prizes for the most original costume and the most creative Book in a Box.

And Abie Longstaff, author of The Fairytale Hairdresser, said Year 1 pupil Sophie (pictured) had turned herself into a “wonderful” version of its pink-haired star character Kittie Lacey.
