AN AMBER weather warning has been issued with heavy rain and flooding likely in Surrey and Hampshire on Monday.

Following earlier rainfall some heavy, and perhaps thundery, showers are expected to develop over parts of southeast England on Monday afternoon and into the evening.

Whilst many areas will miss the highest rainfall totals from these some places could see 50 to 60 mm falling in the space of four to six hours.

The showers will then gradually ease later this evening.

Met Office forecasters have warned that homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings.

Delays and some cancellations to train and bus services are also likely with spray and flooding probably leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

In addition, fast flowing floodwater is possible, causing danger to life.

And power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses are deemed likely.
