THE children in Alton Convent School’s Lower Prep looked spectacular as they told the Christmas story from the perspective of the animals who were also lodging in the stable during the time of Christ’s birth.

Entitled ‘Born in a Barn’, there was an amazing cockerel, complete with sound effects, a pig, a cat, an owl, a dog, two cows, four sheep and three camels, who swung their tales in perfect unison!

The children enthusiastically sang eight songs; in fact they sang them so well, many adults were heard humming them on their way out of the chapel.

There was beautiful group singing during the ‘Mary’ song accompanied by lovely dancing.

The costumes play looked stunning, enhanced by some characterful face painting.

A school spokesman said: “The whole effect was joyful and a great way to start the Christmas season!”
