RTC Safety Surfaces Ltd will upgrade the safety surfacing in the Anstey Park playground next month at a cost of £19,387.

The decision, approved by Alton Town Council’s open spaces committee on June 29, was ratified by the full council on July 27. It had agreed in February to allocate Community Infrastructure Levy funds to the project.

Cllr Graham Hill said: “I very much support this and it is very badly needed. Let’s get the work done before the price goes up or the contractor becomes unavailable.”

Last week’s town council meeting also heard a model of the entire Molson Coors brewery was saved before the buildings were demolished.

Measuring 6ft 2in by 5ft 10in and 4ft high, it is being stored at Alton Maltings but needs a permanent home. Anyone interested in having it can call the town hall on 01420 83986 or email [email protected]
