An arrest has been made following a roadside assault between Alton and Liss that left a man with several fractures to his face.
The incident on the B3006 in Empshott on Tuesday, April 7, was potentially seen by several witnesses as traffic stopped because of the melee.
Police received reports around 5.45am that two men stopped their vehicles on the road before getting involved an in argument.
“One man reportedly assaulted the other, causing several fractures to his face, before leaving the scene in a white vehicle,” said a spokesperson for Hampshire Police.
The spokesperson added that a 35-year-old man from Portsmouth was later arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has since been release under investigation whilst enquiries continue, with police urging any witnesses or anyone with potential dashcam footage of the area in the run-up to the assault to get in touch.
The spokesperson added: “It is believed that there may have been several witnesses to this incident, due to the traffic caused by the stopped vehicles.
“If you have any information which could assist our investigation, including dashcam footage of the incident, please report this to us.”

Police have also reported that a vehicle was clocked doing 44mph in a 30mph zone during morning speed checks in another village near Alton on Wednesday (May 20)
Some 19 offences were recorded in the Cakers Lane area of East Worldham while a further four took place on Forge Road in Kingsley, with 38mph being the highest speed. Both checks took place on the B3004 with police insisting that tackling speeding remains a priority.
