THE Alresford Art Society needs a new treasurer.

One of the biggest organisations in the town, the society boasts 170 art lovers and runs five art classes a week during term time.

“Our current treasurer, Jean Bassington, has kept us on the straight and narrow for the last nine years and she feels, quite rightly, that the time has come to find a replacement,” said chairman Sue Gentry.

“The new candidate doesn’t need to be able to paint or even be interested in art, they just need to have a head for figures.”
