A GROUP of 20 Beavers from the 3rd Alton Kestrel Colony put their best foot forward on a sponsored walk that has so far raised more than £175 to support disadvantaged children in Africa.
On a warm, sunny evening, the Beavers, all aged six to eight, each completed at least four laps of Jubilee Fields.
The number of laps represented how far a child in Africa has to walk for drinking water, school and healthcare.
The event was organised as part of the Beavers’ Community Badge and, according to 3rd Alton Beaver leader Wendy Kilner-Smith, the sponsorship raised has far exceeded the target.
In thanking the parents and families who supported the event, and heaping praised on the Beavers, Mrs Kilner-Smith said the money would be used to buy farm animals, equipment and training to enable families and villages in Africa to become more self-sufficient.
