THE British Government is trying to block the export of a ring, once owned by Jane Austen, which is in danger of being sold out of the country.
But not if Jane Austen's House Museum at Chawton can raise the cash to buy it.
One of only three pieces of jewellery known to have belonged to the Pride and Prejudice authoress, the rare turquoise and gold ring was bought by US singer Kelly Clarkson at auction last year for more than £150,000.
