A soap box derby could be held in Whitehill & Bordon again next year.

Whitehill town councillors Andy Tree and Roger Russell have been in “informal discussions” with the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company, SiGNAL and local businessman Gary Newell about reviving an event last held in the town in 2012.

Mr Newell was involved with the successful Farnham Soap Box Derby in 2019, and working with the support of the regeneration company and others it is his intention to take a lead in bringing one to Whitehill & Bordon in July 2023.

Tonight (Thursday) at 7pm the town council’s executive committee will decide whether to support the plan in principle, making no commitment to specific details at this stage; to appoint representatives to a soap box committee organised by Mr Newell, and agree officer support; and to agree whether any other organisations should be invited to form part of the soap box committee.
