Bins will be collected a day late next week and East Hampshire District Council-owned car parks will be free on the day of the Queen’s state funeral.

East Hampshire’s offices will be closed on the bank holiday Monday (September 19), but the council can still be reached in an emergency.

Below is a list of some of the East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) services directly affected by the closure:

Book of condolence

A book of condolence has been laid out in the reception at Penns Place, Petersfield, and will be available during office hours until 5pm on Tuesday, September 20. The book will be unavailable while the office is shut over the bank holiday.

A book of condolence and an area to lay flowers in tribute to the Queen has also been arranged at St Peter’s Church.

Car parks

The council will not be charging fees in any EHDC-owned car parks on bank holiday Monday, September 19.

Council meetings

EHDC’s council meetings were cancelled this week as a mark of respect for the period of National Mourning. The Overview and Scrutiny Committee has been rearranged for Tuesday, September 20 and Cabinet has been rearranged for Thursday, September 22.

Non-essential business at the council will stop over the bank holiday, however in an emergency the council can be reached on 01730 266551 or through the council’s Out of hours services

Residents can also access a range of council services while the offices are closed through their MyEHDC account.

Waste collections

Waste collections will not be carried out on bank holiday Monday. Please put your bin out the following day instead. 

  • Collections due Monday, September 19 will take place on Tuesday, September 20.
  • Collections due Tuesday, September 20 will take place on Wednesday, September 21.
  • Collections due Wednesday, September 21 will take place on Thursday, September 22.
  • Collections due Thursday, September 22 will take place on Friday, September 23.
  • Collections due Friday, September 23 will take place on Saturday, September 24.

Normal service will resume the week commencing Monday, September 26.
