MUSIC in the Meadow is set to make a comeback on August 2 with the welcome return of Farnham Town Council’s popular weekly concerts at Gostrey Meadow.

The A Train covers band will be the first to head up the six-week season of concerts. Their feel-good playlist of material from well-known artists such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Fleetwood Mac and Bob Marley is guaranteed to be uplifting.

To ensure Music in the Meadow is a Cover-secure event, various measures have been introduced.

Numbers are strictly limited, and people will need to pre-book a bubble for up to two, four or six family members or friends.

The bubbles will be spray painted onto the grass so that social distancing can be maintained.

Councillor Alan Earwaker, lead member for tourism and events, said: “The return of Music in the Meadow represents another major milestone in the lifting of restrictions in Farnham.

"Our aim is to provide a safe, fun and family-friendly event for people who want to sit down and relax and enjoy some great music.

“To prepare for Music in the Meadow, the park will close at 12 noon and reopen at 1pm for people who have pre-booked their bubble.

"This will give plenty of time for picnics or for refreshments from the charity tea tent, which will be hosted by the Farnham Lions.

"After weeks of constraint, I expect this event to be very popular, so I urge you to book early if you want to come along.”

The A Train will perform from 3pm to 5pm. Entry to Gostrey Meadow will be from South Street and the exit will be onto Union Road.

The war memorial will remain open to the public at all times with the remainder of Gostrey Meadow reopening to the general public at 6pm.
