A NEW book, Violet, The Canadian Lieutenant’s Wife, will be launched by its author Roger Sherburn-Hall at Headley Church Hall on Saturday from 11am to 1pm.

Canadian cookies and coffee will be served while Mr Sherburn-Hall presents the book about his grandmother, born Violet Furlonger in 1893, to the audience.

Violet, who was friends with author Flora Thompson and musical instrument maker Mabel Dolmetsch, married Canadian soldier Lieutenant Frank Sherburn Hall – stationed at Bramshott Common camp – in 1917 and emigrated to Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan.
