AS part of this month’s Dying Matters Week, Brendoncare Alton is holding a special event to encourage people to talk about death, dying and bereavement.
Entitled ‘Talk, plan and live your life’, the free drop-in event will take place from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, May 11, at Brendoncare Alton in Adams Way and is open to everyone.
Designed to help people talk about issues around death which they might find difficult to discuss, the event will enable guests to talk to experts such as Colin Godfrey, the patient representative on the end-of-life steering group for North Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group, and Dr Hutchings, end-of-life care GP lead for the clinical commissioning group, as well as representatives from religious and spiritual groups.
Vivienne Cuff, head of care at Brendoncare Alton, said: “Making sure that your wishes are known and plans are in place means that there is one less worry when the time comes.
“A period of illness and bereavement is a difficult time and worrying about your or your loved one’s final wishes can add to the stress.
“You don’t need to be ill or dying to talk about these things and having discussions early can help to make sure that everything is in place for when needed.”
To get involved in the talk, call Brendoncare Alton on 01420 549797.
