FIVE-times world darts champion Eric Bristow took on allcomers at The Wheatsheaf in Alton's Market Square on Sunday night to raise money for Hollywater School at Bordon, to help build a new playground.

There was a sell-out crowd to see Bristow play 16 legs of darts against local players, winning 13 out of the 16 legs.

Nick Day from The Wheatsheaf 'B' team was one of the victors, along with Kevin Murrell and Scott Charlton,

Darren Siggs of The Wheatsheaf 'A' team scored a maximum 180 against the professional.

Hollywater School, an amalgamation of Alton's former Whitedown Special School and The Meadow School at Bordon, was the chosen charity because a friend of the pub, Darren Chapple, has a son who attends the school and all at The Wheatsheaf know of all the excellent work Barbara Livings (headmistress) and her staff do.

The evening raised a total of £959.74 through ticket sales, a raffle, auction and pre-tournament.

Landlords Kev and Will thank all the businesses who donated prizes for the raffle, the customers who helped raise such a large amount of money and the staff/helpers at The Wheatsheaf who made the night such a great success.
