POLICE are appealing for information following a burglary at the Baguette-Me-Not sandwich shop on Alton High Street this week.

Intruders broke in either late on Monday night or in the early of hours of Tuesday morning by forcing a door, before making off with just £15 in cash from the till.

In a post on social media, the store thanked concerned people for all their support and said that on Wednesday customers would receive free tea or coffee for the day.

The statement added: “The support you have shown has been amazing and has helped to keep the faith that there is still so many lovely people around.

“We cannot allow whomever feels that it’s fine to go around and try to disrupt people’s lives and livelihood to win and as a community we need to stick together and become survivors, not victims.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, should call the police on 101, quoting 44170403094, or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
