A well-known pharmacist in Farnham has won the 2023 Pharmacist of the Year award.

Bushra Mansoora Sharif’s hard work and dedication has been recognised by the pharmacy committee and her peers, making her the recipient of the award.

The Pharmacist of the Year award recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual pharmacist to the profession. It is usually given to a pharmacist who has demonstrated excellence in patient care, made a significant impact in their community or the healthcare sector, and shown outstanding leadership, innovation and professionalism.

Bushra qualified as a pharmacist from King’s College London. After working for several companies she decided to run her own pharmacy business, which she did for 18 years in London.

Bushra, who is a mother of six children, moved to Tilford in November 2019 and took over Vaughan James Chemist in Farnham, just before the Covid-19 crisis hit. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, Bushra worked hard to ensure her pharmacy remained open and fully operational, providing essential services to the community.

Bushra has also raised significant amounts of money for charity over the years. Her passion for community service has seen her actively participate in local community projects and initiatives.

Bushra said: “I feel very privileged that my customers have given such good reviews, for which reason I was chosen. I have great empathy for my customers and feel rewarded when I can help them when they are unwell.

“Although I go home tired and somewhat drained, my reward is to have made someone’s day better and hopefully more enjoyable so that they have the strength to cope with their illness.”
