AMERY Hill School hosted an employer skills showcase on Friday. Run by the Dorset-based Enterprise and Skills Company, the event featured 16 employers, there to inspire and motivate 180 students about the opportunities in the work place, an initiative sparked by showcase chairman Karen Arnold, in a bid to counterbalance the decline in work experience opportunities. The aim was to inform students about career choice, with small groups rotating from one employer to another, on a 15-minute basis, asking questions about the business. Employers demonstrated what they did and gave students a go. Businesses included floristry, PR, banking, accountancy, teaching, hair and beauty, library services, food, drink and craft work, personal training, the hotel business, graphic design, and even cupcake making!
