VOLUNTEERS and supporters met at Treloar College to present donations to local charities benefiting from the Alton Summer Beer Festival.

Despite lower than usual numbers due to the jubilee celebrations, June's beer festival helped to raise £6,769 for charity, according to organisers Ysanne and Peter Legg.

Mr Legg said: "It was the 10th anniversary of Alton Beer Festivals, the first being in 2002, and we are delighted that in the 10 years since we started drinking for local charities, Alton Beer Festivals have raised £102,567.

"A huge thank you to our sponsors Triple fff and all the breweries whose generosity helped us raise this fantastic amount."
