SIXTY cyclists set out from Medstead Village Hall on Cycling UK North Hampshire’s annual ride in memory of Phil Hampton, a local man killed while cycling 19 years ago.

There was a 30-mile route taking in the Candover Valley road, Itchen Abbas and Alresford, or a 50-mile route through Cheriton and Bishop’s Waltham and back via Hambledon, West Meon and Ropley. On returning to the hall, the riders enjoyed refreshments and cakes.

Organiser Dan Montgomerie said the riders raised £836 for the Cyclists’ Defence Fund, a charity which helps fight legal cases involving cyclists and cycling.
