DISABLED Alton man Wesley Jackson, who suffers from multiple sclerosis, has expressed his gratitude to The Tricycle charity shop in Normandy Street which raised £1,000 to buy him an electric wheelchair at the start of the year.

Sadly, first he found it difficult to manoeuvre around the terrain of Rookwood where he lives and then the chair was found to be faulty. After a long fight which involved the Citizens Advice, The Tricycle shop got its money back.

But Wesley, 42, who is married to Alexandra, his full-time carer, and has a two-year-old son, Nate, and stepson, Craig, has been given back some of the money raised and he wants the people to know he is putting it to good use.

He now has a powered chair and intends to buy a chair ramp, an orthopaedic mattress, and other items to help him stay mobile.

“I just wanted people to know how helpful it has been to me to get the money and to thank again all those who donated to the Tricycle appeal.

“The power chair has helped me a great deal and it now means I can get to the Scope shop in Alton High Street where I am a volunteer.”
