ALTON Sainsbury’s presented a cheque for £3,444.61 to Martin Lovell, general manager of Basingstoke and Alton Cardiac Rehabilitation.

The the store’s charity for 2016/17, it also also received £138 from items donated in-store for recycling during the period.

Alton Sainsbury’s store manager, Rich Morris, and PR ambassador, Debby Bridger handed over the a cheque.

The cash will go towards valuable preventative work that is carried out at the Rehab Centre off Chawton Park Road.

Mr Morris said: “Every Sainsbury’s store has a Charity of the Year, which is voted for by customers, and we were very pleased to be able to help such a worthwhile local cause.”
