ONE child is still being treated for her injuries more than a week after being involved in a collision between a car and an AMK Minibus carrying 14 pupils to Bentworth Primary School.
The accident happened on the A339, between the junction with Shalden Lane at Lasham and Village Street, Bentworth, on March 9.
The child was one of four people, including a fellow pupil, who were injured in the crash, which took place around 8.45am during the school run.
The emergency services were called to the scene, among them Hampshire Fire and Safety officers from Alton and Basingstoke who freed the minibus driver trapped in his cab.
The male minibus driver, the female car driver and two children were taken to North Hampshire Hospital in Basingstoke with minor injuries.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: “All the other children on the minibus were assessed, treated and discharged at the scene.”
The road was closed for several hours.
Rob Humby, Hampshire County Council’s executive member for environment and transport, said: “I was very sorry to hear about this accident involving a minibus taking students to school. I understand paramedics checked the children for injuries, and two children, along with the driver, went to hospital and were discharged later that day.
“The remaining children were taken to school where their parents were contacted to collect them, and advised to take them to their GP if they had any concerns.”
He added: “I would like to thank the minibus company, AMK, for their swift action in sending another vehicle to help transport the children and wish everyone involved a quick and thorough recovery.”
