FAMILIES flocked to see Thomas the Tank Engine when he visited the Mid Hants Watercress Line over Easter.
Both Thomas and friend, Toad (the Brake Van) – characters from the Thomas the Tank Engine series written by the Revd Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher, gave rides at Ropley station, peeping merrily as they went along.
Visitors were also able to enjoy an inflatable slide and miniature railway, set up on the picnic area at Ropley and to take rides up and down the 10-mile line between Alton and Alresford, on trains pulled by 'Friends of Thomas'.
Even 'Diesel' was on duty, giving rides at Alresford station where Mr Wizard gave magic shows alongside Punch and Judy, and Sir Topham Hatt, the Fat Controller, ensured everyone was having a great time.
