INADOWN Stables at Newton Valence, near Farringdon, provided some festive fun for young riders courtesy of Farnham Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA).
Children from the William Cobbett School took part in a Christmas-themed riding lesson followed by a surprise visit by Father and Mother Christmas! They chatted excitedly with the festive celebrities and were each given a Christmas gift.
Then Father and Mother Christmas headed back to their sleigh and were last seen taking off in the direction of Alton.
Farnham RDA spokesman Sue Griffiths said: “This group of children have ridden with Farnham RDA since September 2016, and have made great progress. Our riders have physical and/or learning difficulties and gain so much from their sessions. They learn all kinds of skills and experience things that cannot be taught in a classroom.”
A charity that relies on volunteers and donations, Farnham RDA group meets on a Friday morning during term time at Inadown Stables where they also give riding sessions to pupils from The Abbey School.
The group is keen to enlist the help of more volunteers. Previous experience with horses is not necessary as training is given. If you think you would like to learn new skills, and become part of a team that can really help make a difference, call Farnham RDA secretary Joan Beadle on 01420 476541.
