PRIVETT Church resembled a beautiful summer garden last month as every corner was filled with flowers and foliage for a flower festival whose theme was All Things Bright and Beautiful.
Held on May 26-27, a team from Privett and Froxfield headed by Teresa Brown and Rosemary-Anne Pack worked hard to make it a special village event which attracted more than 600 people, including one couple had travelled from Somerset.
Mrs Brown said: “We had a lot of visitors from outside the village and the church looked beautiful. At nearby Privett Centre, light lunches and teas were provided and a raffle also helped boost funds.
“It is the first time we have held a flower festival on such a scale and we planned it so that it coincided with Holy Trinity Sunday.”
The festival an impressive £9,500, which will go toward repairing the church roof and the north wall.
Mrs Pack said: “The whole event was a tremendous success and enjoyed by all who visited the festival.”
And she thanked “the committee, the wonderful flower arrangers and team of volunteers who helped over the weekend”.
