HERE’S a lovely yarn about knitters at a Petersfield church doing their bit for patients in the town’s hospital.

Things are clicking over nicely at St Laurence Church as well-wishers have been busy producing blankets for Cedar Ward patients.

They’re literally flying off the beds as they can only be used once because of hygiene regulations, so patients get to keep them upon being discharged.

“The hospital cannot wash the blankets at the temperature needed, so the lucky patients get to take home their newly acquired blanket,” said knitting organiser, Christine Traynier.

“As long as we have wool, it looks like we have a job for life.”

The knitters, who meet twice a month, desperately need more wool to keep up with demand.

If you have some spare wool to donate then either deliver to the church or call the parish office on 07901 1486211 for collection.
