The Bentworth Community Festival will be held at St Mary’s Church in Bentworth from June 19 to 25.

There is free admission to the flower festival taking place in the church throughout the week, and to the church service on June 19 at 10am. All other events will cost £10 in cash on the door.

On June 20 at 5pm there will be Tips and Treats, a dog party and training workshop with Jean Baveystock.

Jonny Shingles will present RAF experiences in The Military on June 21 at 5pm, when there will also be a gin event with The Barracks Gin.

A Rural Childhood: growing up in Bentworth in the 50s will be the subject of a talk by Oliver Leigh-Wood on June 22 at 5pm. Hattingley Valley Wine and the Hampshire Cheese Company will also be in attendance.

Prof Mike Biddiss and Louise Biddiss will present Seaside Follies: an excursion to Jane Austen’s Sanditon – accompanied by tea and scones – on June 24 at 5pm.

A grand finale concert with Patrick and Wendy Busby will round off the festival on June 25 at 6pm. The Bentworth Community Festival raffle draw will also take place during that evening.

All proceeds from the event will go to the St Mary’s Church Extension Appeal. The proposed extension comprises a kitchenette, a toilet and a room to store cleaning equipment, linked to the church through a short, frameless glass corridor by re-opening an old doorway.
