A 14-YEAR-OLD from Haslemere caused quite the impact in Glasgow at COP26, even rubbing shoulders with royalty.

Will Lall, who lives in Marley Lane and is a former Camelsdale Primary School pupil, was at COP26 in his capacity as a World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) youth ambassador to help promote the youth view of climate change.

The Churcher’s College pupil’s aim was to network with key decision makers and learn from global experts.

He also joined both the main march and the youth march in Glasgow with the other five WWF youth ambassadors.

Will had long 18-hour days racing around the Glasgow event to fit in all the opportunities on offer.

Summarising his visit, Will said: "It was a resounding success. I learned a huge amount, interviewed many people from various organisations and made some valuable contacts."

Will’s highlights included appearing on CBBC Newsround, interviewing actor and BBC Radio 1 DJ Cel Spellman, and chatting with HRH Princess Eugenie.

He added: "I found it positive to see the world coming together to attempt to do what it can about climate change.

"There has been frustration voiced about the speed of change, but now I understand what needs doing I can understand that every single thing we do helps and is a step forward. I have learned it is a gradual process, which cannot be done overnight.

"We need a plan and to work together, and that starts with talking."
