Parish of the Resurrection in Alton, Holybourne and Beech is holding its 2022 Climate Sunday Service at the Church of St Lawrence in Alton tomorrow (Sunday) at 10.30am.

The speaker is Billie Anderson from Tearfund, and there will be activities for all ages and refreshments in the churchyard after the service.

Elspeth Mackeggie Gurney, the eco church team lead for Parish of the Resurrection, said: “Our commitment to act and speak up on climate change continues and we have had a wonderful response from our congregations – so many people got involved.

“It’s becoming a matter of integrity for churches to put their own house in order on this threat to people and nature, which is what eco church aims to achieve.

“The eco church team leads on improving the environmentally- friendly use of our church land and buildings, how we work in the community for the benefit of the environment, and how our worship, teaching and church activities reflect our thanksgiving for God’s wonderful creation and our understanding of our responsibility to care for it.

“We are blessed in Alton and the villages to work closely with the Alton Climate Action Network. We look forward to welcoming you.”
