A Frensham man has appeared in the dock after twice using racist language towards a prison officer in a Guildford hospital.
Guildford Magistrates Court heard on Thursday that Ralph Parton became racially abusive to an officer shortly after arriving at Royal Surrey County Hospital on August 14.
The 64-year-old of Peakfield was told to watch his mouth before repeating the racial slur after swearily asking the officers to open a door.
“Whilst he was walking through the hospital the defendant shouted towards them ‘open the ******* door’,” said the prosecution, before informing the court of the racist term that immediately followed.
Parton will be sentenced in December after admitting to a count of racial aggravation by words and pleading separately to a count of speeding and driving without a licence.
The court heard the defendant, whose driving licence was revoked in September 2021, was caught narrowly exceeding the 30mph limit on Epsom Road in Merrow on February 20.
“He wasn’t aware his licence had been revoked so it came as a complete shock,” said the prosecution, who added that Parton was doing 35mph when caught at 9.16pm.
The details of Parton’s defence were spared for sentencing as magistrates requested further reports.
The defendant, who has 52 previous convictions for 99 offences, was given unconditional bail.
