ELLISFIELD is up in arms over proposals for an industrial-sized anaerobic digestion plant on a greenfield site, just off the A339, in Bushywarren Lane.
The application for the plant, which will process agricultural and food waste, has been lodged with Hampshire County Council's minerals and waste department by Barfoot Energy Projects Ltd and the Herriard Estate, on whose land it will sit.
To be located next to Veolia's garden waste composting site, and close to a sea of photovoltaic solar panels, the fear is that the village is becoming a centre for developing 'green industry' and its noise, smells and traffic movement.
Having fought off an application to turn the area into a massive paint balling park, more than 70 people gathered last Saturday morning to protest against this latest proposed intrusion into a downland woodland plateau which forms part of an established conservation site.
