ALTON'S Summer Beer Festival 2009 was a sell-out, with the bar almost drunk dry.

Held on Saturday at the Alton Maltings Centre, this year's festival coincided with the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings, and to mark the occasion it was opened by Fred Holden, chairman of the Alton branch of the Royal British Legion.
