SELBORNE is the first village in East Hampshire to launch its own Community SpeedWatch scheme.
The initiative will enable trained volunteers to use a speed gun to record the speed and details of motorists exceeding the limit through their historic village.
Managed by the Alton Police Safer Neighbourhoods Team, but run by the community, the scheme has been set up to tackle the issue of speeding through Selborne and to make it safer for pedestrians.
Despite the installation of a 20mph speed limit through the village in 2010, speeding is still recognised as the biggest community priority in the village.
