POLICE are warning motorists to expect traffic congestion on the A31 Alresford to Winchester road this weekend as up to 19,000 people converge on Matterley Bowl for a music festival. 

The Boomtown Fair began on Thursday (August 9) and will continue through to Sunday evening. The majority of people were expected to arrive on Thursday and leave the site the following Monday morning (August 13).

Officers are advising local residents and commuters to expect delays and congestion in and around the Winchester area throughout the weekend, but especially during times the majority of festival goers are arriving at and leaving the event.
