Farnham Maltings and New Adventures have announced the return of Doorstep Duets, bringing live dance to neighbourhood spaces, including a public performance this Saturday (July 23) in Gostrey Meadow.

Doorstep Duets was created in 2021 to provide specially-choreographed world-class duets for hyper-local outdoor spaces in Farnham as a response to the social isolation caused by the pandemic.

Farnham Maltings chief executive Gavin Stride said: “I cannot describe how much affection I hold for this project.

“It’s not a partnership, it’s like working with friends, and Doorstep Duets is that perfect marriage of extraordinary craft placed in the most everyday settings.”

This year Doorstep Duets is touring again with new duets, choreographed by New Adventures dance artists.

It aims to offer free opportunities where people can enjoy performance in their local neighbourhood, on their street, in local parks and through community-based organisations.

They are designed to bring joy, escapism and connection, and make dance more accessible to everyone.

Farnham Maltings will be working with 27 local organisations to take performances to the doorsteps of Right at Home clients, and Sampsons and Andrew Windsor Almshouses, as well as performing for clients of Farnham ASSIST, Surrey Choices and Brightwells Gostrey.

Farnham Maltings is also working with Farnham Stands with Ukraine and Farnham Homes for Ukraine, as well as space2grow, Brambleton Hall, Hale Community Centre and Youth Centre, the Spire Reading Group and 40 degreez.

Beyond Farnham, it is working with the West End Centre, Inclusive Intergenerational Dance, Waverley Borough Council and the Hunter Centre.

The first free public performances of the tour are in Farnham on Saturday (July 23) at 12.30pm in Gostrey Meadow.

Escape from the everyday and immerse yourself in the stories, which in true New Adventures style are lively, characterful and full of happiness.
