A NEW Forensic Training Academy is set to open at Farnham College this autumn, seeking to train Britain’s next generation of crack detectives.

The college has partnered with training provider Integritas Global Consultancy, a crime scene investigation and specialist forensic training provider to UK and international police and other government agencies, to launch the academy.

Its Applied Science Edex BTEC Level 3 Diploma will welcome its first cohort this September, with students to be taught all of the forensic disciplines by a host of former military and law enforcement professionals.

But in the interim, Integritas will also be providing a number of forensic workshops for 14 to 18 year olds at the Morley Road campus this summer to give a flavour of what students can learn on the course.

Farnham College head Neil Brookes said: “The academy brings great opportunities for students, and provides authentic learning experiences delivered by industry professionals.”?

Integritas CEO Mitchell Youngman said: “The opportunity to work collaboratively with Activate Learning to add real value to the forensic studies of Farnham College students is extremely exciting and is at core of what we are about; developing the learning pathway of those that want to work within the forensic world.”

Dr Jonathon Brooks is academy director of Forensic Training and said: “I am beyond excited to be involved in this, and looking forward to helping students excel in areas they couldn’t before.

"They are the key to the future, and giving them opportunities to advance is what we should be doing as scientists and leaders within the subject.”
