South Farnham School has been named the 11th best state primary school in the UK, second best in the South East, and the best in Surrey, according to the annual ‘Parent Power’ school guide published by The Sunday Times in December.

Headteacher Esther Whitbourn said: “This is a brilliant achievement considering there are 16,791 primary schools in the country, placing South Farnham in the top 0.07 per cent of schools nationally.”

Miss Whitbourn went on to praise the hard work and excellence of the school’s pupils and staff, noting that the school’s success was not limited to academic achievement.

“Not only are the children achieving well academically, they are also benefit from an extraordinarily rich curriculum and leave our school as well-rounded pupils,” she said.

Highfield South Farnham, a member of the same academy trust, was also ranked the 39th best state primary in the south east and 257th nationally – just seven years after it replaced the ‘inadequate’ Pilgrims Way School in Weydon Lane.

Weydon School in Farnham was also named the third best state secondary in the UK in The Times’s Parent Power league tables for 2023.
