STUDENTS, staff and governors at Eggar's School in Alton are celebrating becoming an Academy.

While the conversion to Academy status took longer than originally hoped, now that it is done, according to headteacher Ben Godber, "the school is looking forward to an exciting future, using the independence that it will have as an Academy to build on its tremendous recent success and further improve the school, both in the immediate future and in the longer term".
