HAVING put out an urgent appeal for someone to take over the reins of Alton and District Sports Council and relieve him of the role of chairman, Joe Walters has said that it is “with great sadness” that his plea had gone unheard.
And, for that reason, he says has no option but to wind up the organisation.
Alton and District Sports Council’s constitution states: “In the event of the sports council being wound up, the assets that remain after payment of any debts incurred by the sports council shall be handed to Alton Town Council to be held in trust for five years against the re-formation of the sports council.
"After a period of five years has elapsed, the assets shall become the property of the Alton Town Council.”
