Farnham’s Gostrey Meadow will be transformed into an arena for breath-taking stunts on mountain and BMX bikes as well as stunning parkour routines tomorrow (Wednesday).

The show from the team at the Extreme Mountain Bike Show takes place from midday to 5pm and will bring a stunning spectacle to Farnham’s otherwise tranquil park. It is aimed at teenagers and families and is supported by a free shuttle bus service from local residential areas.

“If you saw the Extreme Mountain Bike Show when it last visited Farnham, you can expect bigger ramps and even more impressive performances,” said Councillor Kika Mirylees, lead member for tourism and events.

“If you haven’t seen it before, I promise you will be wowed! The team are all former pros with immense skill and nerves of steel.”

She continued: “The show is free to watch. By bringing it to Farnham, we want to give young people and families a free afternoon’s entertainment and the chance to hang out with friends.

“There will be a DJ playing throughout the afternoon, street food on sale from the fantastic Funky Pickle and free transport.”

There will be BMX, mountain bike trials and parkour show sets at 1pm, 2.30pm and 4pm. After the show, the team from the Extreme Mountain Bike are looking forward to spending time chatting to members of the audience and posing for photos.

The hoppa shuttle bus will operate from locations around Farnham to and from the event throughout the afternoon, enabling youngsters to travel there and home again safely and for free.

Stops announced so far include Sandy Hill, Wrecclesham and Badshot Lea. Further details and additional stops will be announced nearer the time. Check www.farnham.gov.uk for the latest information.

The Extreme Mountain Bike Show is the UK’s leading mountain bike and BMX show, led by multi-award winning rider Danny Butler. Danny is the five times British Men’s Elite champion and a European champion in his field.

Also on the team are Joe Oakley, a former junior champion, world record holder and performer on Britain’s Got Talent and Rob Poyser who has been an international elite rider and member of Team GB for over a decade.

And on Wednesday, August 31, Team Extreme, the skate and BMX display team that recently featured on ITV’s The Games, will also come to Farnham. They will perform their stunning ramp show and run coaching workshops for children and young people to brush up on their skills.

“Team Extreme is bringing their mini ramp show to Farnham, a show packed with stunts on BMXs, skateboards, inline skates and scooters. Performances are between 12 and 5pm in Gostrey Meadow and are free to watch,” added Cllr Mirylees.

The show includes three performers who will perform grinds, spins, flips and technical moves along the top edge of a six feet tall mini halfpipe ramp.

Shows will start at 12.40pm, 1.40pm, 2.40pm and 4pm. The BMX, skateboarding and scooter coaching sessions will take place throughout the afternoon and are suitable for children aged over eight and teenagers.

A free shuttle bus will run from various locations in and around Farnham to and from the venue. The bus timetable is available at www.farnham.gov.uk

“We are providing the event completely for free to offer something for families to do this summer that doesn’t cost them a penny,” said Cllr Mirylees.

“Pick up points for the free shuttle bus will be announced nearer the time and children don’t need to bring their own equipment as everything will be provided.

“However, for under 16s wanting to take part in the coaching sessions, Team Extreme will need parents to sign a disclaimer form on the day.”

Team Extreme featured on the latest series of ITV’s The Games. The team is one of the UK’s top display teams for BMX, scooter, inline skating and skateboarding stunts and includes some of the country’s most daring and successful athletes in their field.
