Alton Library is hosting two events as part of Jane Austen Regency Week.

There will be a chance to explore the library’s Jane Austen collection in a drop-in session on June 25 from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Visitors can discover a selection of books that make up the Hampshire Library Service’s specialist Jane Austen collection, held at Alton Library because of its proximity to Jane’s home in Chawton.

Local historian Jane Hurst will be on hand to talk about the collection and provide additional information on the author and the area.

There is a drop-in craft session on June 27 from 10.30am to midday at which children can create a Jane Austen-themed greeting card. This activity is suitable for children aged from six to ten and costs £1.
